| | Afternoon all.
Is there anyone out there who likes Stephen Sondheim and would like to join me at The Theatre Royal on 23rd Oct to go to this event?? I bought two tickets waaaayyy back in July, at a time when I had someone to go with. Needless to say this has since stopped being the case! However, I still want to go, and with little over 3 weeks until the event I am hoping to find someone to go with.
For those that dont know about him Here is a summary:
This year, the celebrated composer and lyricist Stephen Sondheim turns 75, and to celebrate the Theatre Royal Drury Lane is hosting a gala performance of some of his finest songs, featuring a host of international stars. All proceeds from this fantastic event will go to Child Line.
Sondheim has written a string of smash musicals from A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum (1962) through Sweeney Todd (1972) to his latest, Bounce (2004). Perhaps his most famous song is Send In The Clowns, but if you know musicals, you've definitely celebrated his writing before. Sondheim is the heir apparent of Rodgers, Hart and Hammerstein, a witty lyricist but first and foremost a composer of beautiful, catchy melodies.
This extraordinary night will feature performances by stars of stage and screen including Imelda Staunton, Eartha Kitt, Nicholas Parsons, Bonny Langford, Wendi Peters and James Dreyfuss. The winners of Channel 4's Musicality will also take to the stage, joining the line-up of seasoned musical theatre performers including Gemma Craven, John Barrowman, Sally Ann Triplett, Tim Flavin and Laura Michelle Kelly.
A night of pure musical pleasure, in a marvelous cause - what could be better??
Well lets see what happens..failing this ill just go with Billy AND Scott (last names NO Mates))) )
Anyone who does wish to go put your reasons on a postcard and I ll draw the lucky winner on Oct 10th
