+ You can act all smug on the train
+ Loving someone more than you love yourself and having someone feel the same way
+ Perfecting the love making
- Fights, the inevitable bitter ending.
- Being with the wrong person
Single:
+ You can't lose a girlfriend when you're single
+ Its exciting not knowing who's next in your life
+ Free as bird
- That lonely feeling you get late on a Friday night after drinking reassuringly expensive lager
- Your mates don't invite you on a camping trip to Newquay cause you're the only single. Bastards.
So yeah, attached is better. I guess. |

| | Pros of being attached
Someone to share the highs and lows who will always listen.
Having someone who cares for you and feeds you up so that you are too tired for late nights.
Sharing dinner, eating out, movie in a twosome couple seat.
Being able to make that call at any hour.
Being confident in yourself more of the time.
Cons of being attached
Ermmm... getting more attention from the opposite sex because you are more confident... and feeling guilty about it
Having to say no to the people you fancied that inevitably come out of the woodwork.
Having to explain why your ex texts you at stupid hours in the morning.
Having to meet the parents... yours and theirs. No dad you are not gonna be a grandfather anytime soon... its not tenth time lucky I am afraid just a new girlfriend.
Bank balance.
No duvet....
Less time with friends
Pros of being single
Choice, no guilt, doing your own thing and concentrating on friends or personal pursuits.
Cons - you may be the one calling/texting the ex and looking like a twat. Reminiscing about relationships... lower self esteem.
Best of the 2... is definetely being single. This applies if you are not with someone you love who reciprocates. If you are with that 'ONE' ( although there may be plenty of em), than there are no cons. Sometimes I think it is hard finding the one you love, especially if any of them have slipped through your finers. W are all very good at kicking ourselves. However it is equally a problem not letting anyone get close enough for us to love them...
ahhh its late I'll stop the raving for tonight |

- Errr, it's nice sometimes
- You get plenty of sex
- There's always someone around if you need it
- You have someone to go to the cinema with
- There's the stability of being in a long term relationship
- Sometimes they make you feel happy
Single:
- It's nice all the time
- You get plenty of sex, with the added bonus of not having to make conversation afterwards
- You can do what you want, when you want and never answer to anyone
- You can go to the cinema and watch a film without having to discuss it after or have someone trying to snog you
- There's the excitement & anticipation of being single, without any of the fear that the best thing that's ever happened to you might just be a moment passed
- No one can ever make you feel sad
Hmmm...on balance, I'd say being single rules |

| | I was just getting to like being a bachelor and - as I blogged not very long ago - was getting used to the fact that it might last forever and was pretty okay with that. I'm happy to do things on my own like going on walks, to the cinema and even restaurants (but not the pub). I've got good friends so there's usually someone to hang out with. I like to have my own space and do my own thing; if only because I've lived alone for such a long time I've got used to it.
But now that I am seeing someone I feel like I was deluded all that time; like I was content, but not really happy. Sex with a loving partner is considerably better than the solo option, or one night stands and the old self-esteem doesn't at all mind the compliments that it's getting. On a more serious level it's good to know that we both have someone to look out for us, and I have started looking towards a real future; one with more satisfying things in it than the next promotion and nights in the pub.
Downsides? Only that she lives 50 miles away... |

| | | One of the reasons the rent on my house is so low is that it's falling to pieces. The bath is not really attached to the floor by anything apart from the plumbing, and I suspect that any attempted wet sex would result in falling through the kitchen ceiling... |
